We have all heard of animal testing, but what exactly is it?

Animal testing is where millions of animals such as dogs, cats, rabbits, mice, monkeys and birds are bred into science laboratories where they undergo horrific testing to ensure products are safe for human consumption. These animals are subjected to torture, injected with harmful substances, exposed to radiation, have their organs & tissues surgically removed, forced to inhale toxic gases, burned, injured, made to live in fear and even killed. Pretty horrific isn't it.

Some animal tests are standard practice for some companies & brands, whilst other animal tests are carried out because of local laws of countries that import the goods that require all beauty products to be tested on animals before they are allowed to be sold in that country. You see, although a product may claim not to test on animals, the country they import into does, which means the product will ultimately be tested on animals regardless of whether they claim to or not. It is a multi-billion dollar industry and they will do anything to pull the wool over our eyes!

Every time we buy certain products, we are responsible for causing so much pain and misery to these living beings, but there are ways you can help! By pledging to boycott products that test on animals (or import into animal testing countries) and only supporting companies that do not, you are removing the need for animal testing. Yay!
